ABACUS– The Complete Brain Development Device
Abacus is the oldest known calculating device and has evolved into a complete brain development tool over the time. It improves concentration, photographic memory, observation and listening skills along with higher speed and accuracy in solving the arithmetic problems.
SOROBAN Abacus is the universally used Abacus in modern times. Soroban was developed by the Japanese as a rectangular frame with two decks separated by a horizontal bar and a series of vertical rods. The wooden beads are mounted on these vertical rods and allowed to slide freely. These moving beads are used to visualize numbers in decimal system and the bead position is manipulated to perform the calculations.
Abacus nurtures love for Math and numbers. Addition, subtraction, division and multiplication are accomplished in simple steps whereas thecomplex computations like square or cube root, fractions, negative numbers etc. are performed using advance techniques.
Abacus can be learnt by anyone but children aged 5 - 15 years learn very fast as this is the period of most of the brain development. Fingers in both hands are used to touch and move the beads awakening the senses and activating the brain. This enables thinking, utilising the creative as well as the logical sides of the brain to integrate the information and derive accurate results. Gradually, the practice helps kids learn to utilise both sides of the brain in harmony. This boosts the confidence, self-esteem, logical reasoning, rational thinking and problem-solving.
